Protect Your Pipes in Cold Weather
We are expecting extremely cold temperatures in the next couple days. Many homes in Croton have experienced frozen pipes and frozen water lines in the past. In order to prevent the water lines on your property from freezing this winter, take some necessary precautions:
1. Maintain 60-degree minimum temperatures throughout your home. 2. Protect exposed pipes with insulation. 3. Water service lines are private property – some may be shallow and vulnerable to freezing. If you have reason to believe your service line is vulnerable you may consider running a small pencil-tip amount of water in one of your faucets during extremely cold weather to prevent freeze-ups.
