Siren Testing Schedule Change
Entergy has revised its test schedule for soundings of the new Indian Point emergency sirens. All sirens in the new system will be tested during the mornings of Monday, April 2nd and Thursday, April 5th. There will be three soundings of the new siren system between 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon on both those days. All 150 sirens in the new system will be sounded at full-volume for approximately four minutes during each test.
Please note the testing schedule has changed! Previously testing had been scheduled for Wednesday, April 4. There will be NO testing of the new system on Wednesday April 4th. Entergy continues to work on completion of this new siren system. The company plans to place the new system in service by Sunday, April 15th.
Until the new system is in service, during an Indian Point Emergency, officials would use the existing siren system to alert the public to tune to their local Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio or TV station for important information. Sounding the sirens is NOT a signal to evacuate. Rather it is a signal for residents to listen to Emergency Alert System broadcasts for important information.
