Entergy is conducting two full-volume tests of the Indian Point current emergency alert notification sirens in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties on Wednesday, Feb. 27, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. WHUD Radio (100.7 FM) will perform a test of the Emergency Alert System immediately following the first siren test.
During the first test, all 156 sirens will sound simultaneously for about four minutes. The sirens will start at low volume and rapidly rise to full volume. During the second test, the sirens will sound for only about ten seconds, rising to full volume during that time. In this second test, the siren sounding will begin sequentially in Rockland, then Orange, then Westchester and finally Putnam counties.
No response on the part of the public is necessary during the test.
