Croton Community Coalition Evening Meeting
October 18th, 7:00-8:30 PM
Holy Name of Mary Gymnasium
Presentation of Student Survey Data
All teens, parents & community members are welcome
A couple of years ago concerned Croton residents came together to form the Croton Community Coalition in response to issues surrounding underage drinking and substance abuse in our community. The Coalition’s purpose is to build awareness, provide education and organize events for the community, with the goal of keeping teens alcohol and drug-free.
As part of that effort, last April the Coalition
conducted a survey of Croton's Middle and High School students. The purpose was to obtain information on the prevalence of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; student perceptions of risk; and expectations of parent and peer disapproval. This information will help the Coalition tailor its activities to the needs of the community.
All community members are invited to hear the presentation of survey results on Monday, October 18 from 7-8:30pm in the Holy Name of Mary Gymnasium. At that meeting, we will have a group of panelists available to answer audience concerns and questions. Refreshments will be served.
Presented by: Judy Mezey, Student Assistance Services
Guest Panelists will include: Gary Diggs, Captain, Croton EMS; Ellen Hackett, Student Assistance Counselor; Detective Gabrielsen, Croton Police Department; Ginny Loughlin, Coordinator, Croton Community Coalition; Kusum Sinha, Assistant Superintendent of Schools and Coalition Chair will moderate the panel discussion.
