Local State of Emergency Proclamation

A State of Emergency is hereby declared in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson for a period of time beginning at 12:00 hours on the date of 27 August 2011 and continuing in effect until 18:00 hours on the date of 29 August 2011.

The State of Emergency has been declared due to emergency conditions produced by the anticipated arrival of Hurricane Irene.

Such conditions threaten or imperil the public safety of the citizens of this municipality.  As Chief Elected Official and Chief Executive Officer of this municipality, we have exercised the authority given to us under New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, to preserve the public safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being and health of the citizens of the community.

We hereby direct the Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, Emergency Medical Services, and Office of Emergency Management to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and other such emergency assistance as deemed necessary.

Order Controlling Presence of Persons on Public Streets and Places

As Chief Executive of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, in accordance with a proclamation of State of Emergency executed on the 27th day of August 2011, do hereby declare that the following areas within this municipality are restricted as of 1 pm on August 27th and all pedestrian and vehicular movement, standing and parking, is prohibited; except for the provisions of designated essential services such as fire, police, and hospital services including transportation of patients thereto, utility emergency repair, and emergency calls by physicians, and any other authorized personnel:

Croton Sailing School
Croton Landing Park
Croton Landing Boat Launch
Black Rock Park
Silver Lake Beach and Recreation Area
Mayo’s Landing
Echo Canoe Launch
Dobbs Park
Harrison Street Park
Sunset Street Park
Duck Pond Park
Kaplans Pond
Elliott Way
Pedestrian Bridge over Route 9
Croton-Harmon Train Station Parking Lots including access roads

Said restrictions shall apply until removed by the order of the Chief Executive Officer of Croton-on-Hudson.
