Village of Croton-on-Hudson E-Notice
Fire Fair 2011 Press Release –
The Croton Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its 30th Annual Fire Fair on Sunday October 9th from 1pm to 5pm at the Harmon Firehouse. All residents of the Village and the Mount Airy – Quaker Bridge Fire District are invited to attend. Fire Fair is held to kick-off National Fire Prevention week.
The Theme of this year’s Fair and Fire Prevention Week is “Protect Your Family From Fire.” According to the National Fire Protection Association, firefighters in the US responded to 362,500 fires in the home in 2008, and average of 1 structure fire every day 87 seconds. Please work with us to reduce these statistics.
As in Fire Fairs past, children will be able to “earn” rides on the fire engines by practicing 5 simple fire safety practices. As usual, we will have Mrs. Hazards Kitchen, a Fire Safety Magic act and free safety material. The Ex-Chiefs Association will be serving free hot dogs and drinks and members of our Explorer Post will be serving free popcorn.
Though Fire Fair is geared toward younger children, there is educational material for all ages and the Fire Store sponsored by AAA Emergency Supply of White Plains will be selling safety equipment at Fire Dept cost. AAA Emergency Supply of White Plains will also perform a free inspection of your old fire extinguishers.
