Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger
Village of Croton-on-Hudson E-Notice

The Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger will take place in the Village on Sunday, October 21st. The event will begin on Old Post Road South in front of the High School. There will be walkers and runners traveling through the Village streets throughout the day beginning at 10:00 am and ending by 3pm. To ensure the safety of the participants and the general public, there will be intermittent lane and street closures throughout the day as follows:

  • Access to the Croton Harmon HS from approximately 10:15am to 2:30pm will only be from Rt129.  Old Post Road South will be closed from the CHHS parking lot entrance to Veteran's Corners. Access to Bari Manor from Rt 129 will be open at all times.
  • For a brief period from 10:30am -11:00am the 5K Walk will traverse the Old Post Road South area south of Cleveland Drive impacting Sunset, Morningside, Truesdale, and Nordica and access from those streets to Old Post Road South.
  • Cleveland Drive between Veteran's Corners and the end of the road at the Croton Gorge Trail will be impacted at various times from 10:30am to 2:15pm.
  • Rt 129 will be closed in the Wood Rd - Batten Road area for about 10 minutes from 12:50pm to 1:00pm and there will be intermittent closure of Rt 129 at the Batten Road - Croton Dam Road intersection from about 12:55pm to 1:15pm.
  • Residents/drivers on Quaker Bridge Road are asked to exercise extreme caution from about 1:10pm to 1:40pm. While the road will not be closed, approximately 300 runners will be heading down the hill from the Danish home, across the bridge and heading up the hill on the Croton side and back into the Village on Rt. 129.
