9/11 Memorial Ceremony
Village of Croton-on-Hudson E-Notice

A ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial in Croton Landing Park at 3 pm on Wed., September 11.  The ceremony is the joint effort of the Town of Cortlandt, Villages of Buchanan and Croton-on-Hudson as the volunteer Task Force committee for the BCC 9/11 Remembrance Memorial.

The Memorial, Reaching through the Shadow, has recently completed its Phase 1 construction.  It is now a functioning sundial with nine bronze medallions serving as hour markers which also depict the events of that day.

Remaining work to complete Phase 2 consists of a bronze statue of a woman who is reaching, but not quite touching, the steel beam from the World Trade Center North Tower. She symbolizes hope and strength. A remembrance garden is also planned at the site which is designed to be a place for reflection and renewal.

People who would like to attend the ceremony should gather at the Croton Landing Park parking area at 2:30.  There will be a procession to the memorial site a quarter mile to the north, led by a color guard.  A van will be available to transport those who need a ride to the site.
