Robert Freeman to Speak at Village Board Meeting - Early Start of 7:30 pm

Robert Freeman, the Executive Director of the Committee on Open Government, will speak at the Village Board of Trustees Regular Meeting on December 15, 2014.  The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm to give Mr. Freeman ample time to answer questions from the audience.  Mr. Freeman has worked for the Committee since its creation in 1974 and was appointed executive director in 1976.  Mr. Freeman has addressed numerous government related organizations, bar associations, media groups and has lectured at various colleges and universities.  He has also spoken on open government laws and concepts throughout the United States.  

The Committee is responsible for overseeing and advising with regard to the Freedom of Information Law, the Open Meetings Law and the Personal Privacy Protection Law(Public Officers Law, Articles 6, 7 and 6-A respectively). Staff of the Committee gives advice by telephone, email, written advisory opinions, and training classes conducted throughout the state.

Mr. Freeman will make a short presentation and then open up the floor to answer questions from the Board and the public.
