Message from the Mayor Regarding Swimming Safety
Village of Croton-on-Hudson E-Notice

The loss of a child is the worst horror a parent can experience. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young man who perished while swimming in the Croton River.

Our community has many wonderful parks and beautiful waterfront areas. As we enter the summer season, I appeal to all parents and community leaders to speak to our young people about safety.

Most importantly, please speak with your children about the need to only swim in designated areas. Parts of the Croton River are dangerous and that is why Croton and Ossining prohibit swimming in those areas.

If you want to find safe areas to swim, please call the Croton Recreation Department at 271-3006 or the Ossining Recreation Department at 941-3189.

We share this community, we share our waterfront, and we share in our grief over this tragedy. But we can also share in our effort to save lives. Please speak to your children, and please pass this information along to the parents of our community.
