Croton-on-Hudson's Emergency Medical Service is a volunteer organization, assisted by Paid Staffing. that provides ambulance service to the Village of Croton-on-Hudson and Mt. Airy and Quaker Bridge Fire Protection Districts, in the Town of Cortlandt. Over 40 members strong and rapidly growing, Croton EMS responds to over 800 calls per year.
In 2008 Croton EMS seperated from the Croton Fire Department. Croton EMS started with a core of 22 experienced members of the Croton Fire Department . These same 22 members belong to both, the Croton Fire Department and Croton EMS. One advantage of separting the EMS to its own department is that the Village of Croton-on-Hudson can now bill for medical services. This will help with the financial income for the village and help keep taxes down a bit for the residences of the village.
Croton EMS is on its fifth year of operation and is a VOLUNTEER agency.
Croton EMS administration is located at 44 Wayne Street. Ambulance operations is located at the Harmon Firehouse, located at 30 Wayne Street.
No prior EMS experience is necessary to join and training and equipment are provided. Stop by the Harmon Firehouse on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for more information.
For minimum requirements, see page three of the Croton EMS application.
Thank you,
Gary W. Diggs - Captain
