Croton-on-Hudson's Fire Department is an entirely volunteer organization that provides both fire and ambulance services to the Village. Over 200 people, belonging to five fire companies, respond to over 750 calls per year. Chemical Engine Company, Columbian Hook and Ladder Company, Washington Engine Company, and Harmon Engine Company are the firefighting branches. The EMTs of Croton Fire Patrol No. 1, headed by Captain Greg Tucci, provide the Village's ambulance service. The Explorers provide support services such as gathering and maintaining equipment at fire scenes.

No prior firefighting experience is necessary to join the Department, and training and equipment are provided. Stop by a firehouse Mondays at 7 p.m. for more information.
