The Village Clerk is appointed to a two-year term by the Mayor. The Clerk has custody of all Village records, papers, books and communications, as well as the reports and communications of the Board of Trustees.
The Clerk's Office issues various Licenses and Permits including: Parking Permits, Handicapped Permits, Peddler's Permits, Film Permits and Dog Park Permits
The Village Clerk is responsible for the issuance of dog licenses in the Village. All dogs that have reached the age of four months must be licensed per New York State law.
The Village Clerk serves as the Registrar of Vital Statistics and maintains and issues certified copies of birth and death records of the Village. These records are limited and pertain only to persons who were born in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson or who actually died within the Village of Croton-on-Hudson.
The Village Clerk is the Public Access Information Officer and processes all requests for records under the Freedom of Information Law.
The Village Clerk is an authorized retailer for E-ZPass.
The Village Clerk is a Notary Public. Notarization is provided to residents for free for village documents; all other documents can be notarized at a cost of $2.00 per signature.
